The award aims to support Dr. Çelik's experimental work on atomically-precise design of advanced catalytic materials using atomic layer deposition technique. He will establish a research group in our department and conduct research starting January 1st, 2020.

PhD scholarships are available in Dr. Gökhan Çelik’s catalysis research group in the Chemical Engineering Department at Middle East Technical University. The project, funded by TUBITAK 2232 “International Fellowship for Outstanding Researchers Programme”, will explore novel design strategies to synthesize atomically-precise advanced catalytic materials using grafting techniques.

The candidates are expected to develop considerable skills in synthesis, characterization, and testing of advanced catalytic materials for hydrocarbon processing reactions such as alkane dehydrogenation. Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, or Chemical Engineering is required. Preference will be given to students with

  • a strong motivation to pursue research activities and create a scholarly profile.
  • a practical laboratory experience and training in organometallic and inorganic chemistry (spectroscopic techniques, chromatography, handling of air-sensitive chemicals, advanced Schlenk techniques).

We are also seeking highly motivated MSc and undergraduate researchers. Interested applicants should send an email to gokhanchelik@gmail.com or stop by at Gökhan’s office C-Z 10 (Building C, Office Z-10 at Chemical Engineering Department).
